Make your passion your career. I have always been interested in pursuing engineering, and converting my passion into my career has helped me immensely.

I am Anurag Srivastava, and I am currently working at Flipkart.

Unlike others, I always wanted to be an engineer myself. It wasn’t imposed upon me in any sense whatsoever. I have always been interested in hacking and computers, and that’s why when I told my parents that I wanted to become an engineer, they supported me wholeheartedly.

My time at Flipkart has been charming. The people at Flipkart want to make you comfortable with their company, and that is something that I have not found anywhere else. It’s the small things that they do. Multiple code reviews, technical terminology accesses, and a fantastic work environment have been my care package. This work culture initially seemed bizarre to me, but now I live by it.

The environment here is very different from my previous job. I spend my time attending yoga sessions, breathing sessions, etc., organized by Flipkart, and it all seems worth it. It has given me a lot of opportunities to work on myself and my career. I really enjoy my work here.

Scaler has been the most incredible support for me during my journey. I am fortunate that I got a chance to associate myself with Scaler. They helped me become what I wanted to become, a sound engineer, and I cannot be thankful enough. The live doubt sessions with experienced mentors and the mocks interviews are some of the things that really helped me. I solved almost 500-600 problems and even developed an android vulnerability scanner while preparing with Scaler, and needless to say, their help has been crucial for my journey.

I did not realize the importance of coding for a long time in my life, and it was only after college that I realized if I want to go further ahead and become a software engineer, I need to be an excellent coder. I started spending my days and often nights coding or finding bugs for websites like the US Department of Defence, Intel, etc. My white hacking rendezvous is one of my most cherished memories. It helped me realize my interests, and I think that drove me towards choosing engineering as my primary path. My will to learn and discover new things has helped me a lot.

I want to leave everyone with the advice I was given by my team member. Being an engineer comes with a lot of work, but it can be made easier if you do smart work instead of hard work. It’s enough if you submit your work on time. Use the skills that you have learned, and make your work efficient and effective. Also, grab all the opportunities that come your way. Taking chances is the only way we can move forward. You are worth it!
